Manchester United Opinion: Red Devils want Hernandez – good move?
According to reports from Daily Mail, Atletico Madrid defender Lucas Hernandez is part of a four-man shortlist of players that Manchester United are keen to bring in during the summer transfer window.
As suggested by the report, this aforementioned list is also said to include the names of Napoli star Kalidou Koulibaly, Nikola Milenkovic of Fiorentina and Douglas Costa of Juventus.
From this list, it is clear that Manchester United are after strong and assured defensive reinforcements which will certainly strengthen this United side and will also go a long way in their bid for Premier League glory.
Their current first-choice centre-halves are Eric Bailly and Victor Lindelof. While they aren’t bad defenders, sometimes, they just seem to lack the mental composure to withstand the testing nature of Premier League football.
The first half of their season, under the guidance of Jose Mourinho, was filled with individual defensive errors which cost them dearly. But now, their resurgence has been awe-inspiring.
While they do have the attacking firepower in the likes of Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford, Jesse Lingard and Romelu Lukaku, some defensive upgrades can surely benefit this high-flying Manchester United side.
As suggested by Daily Mail, Lucas Hernandez has emerged as a surprise target for Ed Woodward. He is a 23-year-old French centre-half, who is mobile and gets around the pitch really quickly. Capable of playing as a wing-back as well, his versatility gave him a deserved place in France’s World Cup squad.
Other than his pace, his ability to read the play and intercept passes are very impressive while he certainly is a presence in either box. He has played 14 league games for Atletico and has scored a goal as well.

He played all the games at the World Cup including the final, which certainly shows how talented a player he is. With that kind of profile, the Frenchman is bound to be a hit at Old Trafford and Ed Woodward must go all out to sign this guy in the summer window.
