Opinion: How Would Arsenal Line-up If They Sign This Super German?

Arsenal Transfers

Mario Gotze to Arsenal?

Arsenal are in the hunt for a big money signing, they have already signed Petr Cech who should solve their goalkeeping problems from last season and the club could be looking to bolster their squad with more attacking power.

Reports suggest that Arsenal are in the running to sign German wonder kid, Mario Gotze. The Bayern Munich attacker could be available to the Gunners for an asking price of around £40-50 million and instead of spending it on Sterling, this would be a more wise choice. Why would Pep Guardiola want to sell off Gotze? Well, he does have a habit of falling out with a few players on a regular basis and this could be stemming out from that. Either way, if Bayern are to sell the star, Arsenal would be the perfect place for him. They already have a few Germans in the squad and play a brand of great football.

The only question that would arise is where would Gotze play for Arsenal, especially thanks to the oodles of talent the Gunners have in their midfield and attack? We try to answer that question now.

The world cup winner, could be a Gunner?

Mario Gotze loves to play down the middle of the team, his preferred position is that of a central attacker but fitting him into an Arsenal team with Sanchez, Walcott, Ramsey and Ozil might be a bit of a problem, especially when it comes to Sanchez who had a brilliant season for the Gunners thanks to his central role for the team.

To accommodate Gotze, who can play on either side of the wing is also known to drift in and take a pop at goal. To get the team working together, some sacrifices would have to be made, especially for Sanchez. The Chilean would have to drift either to the left or the right of the wing. Centrally it should be Gotze who can link up with Giroud in the attacking quartet.

The biggest decision would have to be who plays alongside the trio of Giroud, Sanchez and Gotze? While Walcott would seem as the ideal choice, his pace and trickery would be great for the Gunners, can they afford to keep someone like Mesut Ozil on the bench? The German would want to be part of the team, but he would not prefer playing as a winger. He would then have to be shifted to the midfield.

To bring in someone of Gotze’s calibre, changes need to be made and those would be for the betterment of the team. Sanchez would still thrive playing down the wing and more importantly, he will not be the one player who Arsenal keep on relying on all the time. The transfer for Gotze might still be a little far off but Arsenal fans have seen big transfers take place and this would be no different.
