Opinion: This 27-year-old Serie A phenomenon could be the man to complete the Liverpool squad

Why signing Lorenzo Insigne would be a brilliant move for Liverpool

According to the Sun, Liverpool are interested in Napoli forward Lorenzo Insigne after his impressive start to the season in the Serie A. The Italian has already scored six goals in eight league appearances, and also netted a last-gasp winner against Jurgen Klopp’s men at Naples in the Champions League.

The 27-year-old has been terrific for Carlo Ancelotti’s men. He was fantastic against the Reds, creating a lot of problems for the Reds defence and eventually scoring the vital goal.

Liverpool have done some fantastic business in the summer, buying players to overcome their perennial weakness at the back. However, getting a player who can play in several positions across the front-line can be an added firepower to the team.

Here’s why Insigne would be a decent addition to Klopp’s side in the future:

Player Analysis – Lorenzo Insigne

It was pretty obvious that Liverpool were chasing a playmaker in the summer and were hurt by the failed transfer of Nabil Fekir. Therefore, if they get the Napoli forward in the near future, the No.10 spot would be filled gleefully.

The 27-year-old has been in great form this season, which is no surprise as he has been consistently phenomenal in past few campaigns. He possesses an array of strong points in his game.

The Italian is good at creating chances for the team apart from scoring goals. He doesn’t shy away from having a pop at goal whenever the opportunity arises. Furthermore, he can hold the ball up and involve the midfield runners on the counter when required.

He is adept in linking up the play between the midfield and the attack as well, which might be needed if he joins Liverpool.

Verdict

The Reds have begun this season in a strong manner, staying unbeaten in the league and looking good to challenge Manchester City. However, it looks like they are short of a No.10 from really completing their squad on all fronts.
