Outstanding Mooy – The Best And The Worst Rated Huddersfield Players From The Big 4-1 Win vs Watford

Full Time: Watford 1-4 Huddersfield Town

David Wagner’s Huddersfield Town took a huge step closer to the top half of the points table as they put in a surprise performance at the Vicarage Road to beat a Watford side that has been in decent form this season. Elias Kachunga gave the visitors an early lead while Aaron Mooy doubled it in less than 25 minutes.

Things only got worse for the hosts as Troy Deeney saw red for a reckless challenge on Collin Quaner, leaving his side helpless. Laurent Depoitre and Aaron Mooy found the back of the net in the second-half to take their side 4 up, as a solitary goal from Abdoulaye Doucoure was rendered useless. Jonathan Hogg also saw red at the hour mark but the game was more than over by that time. Here’s how the Terriers fared on the night.

Huddersfield Player Ratings

Jonas Lossl (6)

Was solid at the back, winning most balls in the air. Made one superb save late in the game and could not do much to stop the only goal Watford scored.

Florent Hadergjonaj (7)

Was smart with his passing and used the ball well as he did nothing wrong, replacing an ill Tommy Smith at right-back.

Mathias Jorgensen (6)

Could have done well to stop the only goal Watford scored but was generally strong in the air, frustrating the hosts all game.

Christopher Schindler (8)

Hardly put a foot wrong at the back, as his dominant display in the box meant that Town were always on the front foot, for most of the game.

Chris Lowe (7)

Did a solid job on the flank, keeping the Watford wingers frustrated but picked up a niggle and got subbed off in the second-half.

Aaron Mooy (9)

Scored a brace, picked up an assist, could have had two more goals on a night where he ran the game and won it for his side.

Jonathan Hogg (7)

Made a rash tackle when he was already on a yellow and got sent off needlessly but until that point, he made life miserable for his former side, with his constant hassling and pressing in the middle of the park.

Collin Quaner (8)

Played a role in almost every goal for his side as he put on a confident display, unfazed by the occasion away from home.

Elias Kachunga (8)

Right place at the right time to open the scoring early in the game and was also instrumental in keeping the pressure on the home side, before picking up an unfortunate injury.

Rajiv van la Parra (7)

Did well in the final third to keep the Watford defence honest. Should have scored before halftime but was effective with his tracking back when needed, in what was a commanding display.

Laurent Depoitre (7)

A superb finish for Town’s third and a constant presence in both boxes as he played a huge role in winning the game for his side.

Substitutes

Tom Ince (7)

Came on for Kachunga just 20 minutes into the game and put in an industrious display, to keep the ball rolling in the midfield.

Scott Malone (6)

Came on for Lowe at the break and almost scored a goal and set one up for Quaner, on a fruitful night.

Daniel Williams (6)

Came on at the hour mark after the hosts were reduced to 10 men and did a good job to see out the game.
