Patrick Roberts Out, James Forrest In – Strongest 4-2-3-1 Celtic Line-up To Face Bayern Munich In CL

Predicted Celtic Line-up To Face Bayern Munich In The Champions League

Scottish champions Celtic will welcome German champions Bayern Munich to the Celtic Park, in the group stages of the UEFA Champions League, on Tuesday night.

The Hoops are currently 3rd in the Group C standings, with 3 points from 3 games, 3 points behind 2nd-placed Bayern and 6 behind leaders Paris Saint-Germain. The two teams met at the Allianz Arena two weeks ago, with Die Roten emerging as comfortable 3-0 winners. However, Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers will be hoping that his team make things difficult for the German side this time around.

Team News

Defenders Jozo Simunovic, Erik Sviatchenko and Anthony Ralston are all unlikely to feature due to injury issues.

Here’s how Celtic could line up against Jupp Heyneckes’ men on Tuesday.

Manager: Brendan Rodgers

Formation: 4-2-3-1

Craig Gordon (GK)

The veteran shot-stopper is the undisputed No.1 in goal for the Bhoys and that is not likely to change for the upcoming game.

Craig Gordon

Mikael Lustig (RB)

The Swede has been in good form coming into the game, but will have his task cut out against a quality Bayern attack.

Nir Bitton (CB)

With so many injured defenders in the squad, Rodgers would be forced to continue with midfielder Nir Bitton in the makeshift role at centre-half.

Dedryck Boyata (CB)

The former Manchester City man did not feature in the weekend against Kilmarnock, but should slot alongside Bitton in the heart of the defence.

Kieran Tierney (LB)

An ever-present in the Bhoys’ line-up, the Scottish international will start at left-back. He’ll be given a stern test by Arjen Robben.

Scott Brown (CM)

The captain was another player who was not involved in the weekend game, but he should return to the starting line-up for Tuesday’s big game.

Stuart Armstrong (CM)

Partnering the captain in the middle of the park should be Stuart Armstrong. Hasn’t been all that consistent this term and will want to put in a strong display.

James Forrest (RW)

With Patrick Roberts not enjoying a great form, and the fact that he was taken off with an injury in the game against the Killies over the weekend, James Forrest could get the nod on the right flank.

Moussa Dembele

Callum McGregor (CAM)

After Tom Rogic’s poor showing over the weekend, Callum McGregor is most likely to take the No.10 spot for the Hoops against Bayern.

Scott Sinclair (LW)

On the left-hand side of the attack, it should be Englishman Scott Sinclair. The 28-year old hasn’t been among the goals in recent matches and will be keen on addressing that.

Moussa Dembele (ST)

Leading the line for the Bhoys should be Frenchman Moussa Dembele. The young forward has found his goal-scoring boots post his return from injury and will look to inflict some damage on Bayern Munich.
