Pep Guardiola to make 4 changes – Strongest 4-3-3 Manchester City XI to face Cardiff City

Predicted Manchester City line-up to face Cardiff in the Premier League

Manchester City created unwanted history when they became the first English club to lose 4 consecutive games in the history of the Champions League. Pep Guardiola’s side were deservedly beaten 2-1 on the night by a resonant Olympique Lyon team. The Spaniard’s presence was definitely missed on the touchline as Mikel Arteta stood in for the suspended Guardiola.

The Cityzens return to take on Cardiff City in the Premier League this weekend. The Bluebirds are currently languishing right above the relegation zone and Neil Warnock needs some positive results. On paper it, it seems lile an easy win for Manchester City, but in football, nothing is a certainty.

Team News

Benjamin Mendy is still a doubt and might not feature in this game. Apart from long-term absentees, Pep Guardiola has no real injury concerns at the moment.

Fears over Aguero’s injury were also calmed after the striker came off the bench in City’s 2-1 loss to Lyon in the Champions League.

Probable Manchester City XI

Manager: Pep Guardiola

Formation: 4-3-3

Ederson (GK)

Probably the only player who will play every Premier League game for Manchester City this season. Ederson made a number of vital saves against Lyon.

Kyle Walker (RB)

Walker is more than capable of playing 3 games in a week. He will start this one.

Vincent Kompany (CB)

Kompany was rested throughout the week and will return to the fold for this one. The Belgian will lead City from the back.

John Stones (CB)

Stones should partner Kompany at the back after impressing in mid-week. He is very calm and composed in possession.

Fabian Delph (LB)

Mendy’s injury means Delph will continue in left-back for the champions. He lacks the pace and energy of the Frenchman but is intelligent in possession.

Bernardo Silva (RCM)

The Portuguese international has been brilliant for Manchester City so far. He should start in central midfield after playing a more advanced role in mid-week.

Fernandinho (CM)

Fernandinho’s relentless running has been massive for Manchester City. He will continue in his favoured role.

David Silva (LCM)

Silva seems to be getting better with age. The Spaniard currently pulls the strings in De Bruyne’s absence.

Riyad Mahrez (RW)

The Algerian will start this one in place of Raheem Sterling in order to keep things fresh up front.

Sergio Aguero (ST)

Guardiola will be glad to have Aguero fit and firing for this game. He will be fresh as well, playing just the final 20 minutes against Lyon.

Leroy Sane (LW)

Sane was a major influence after coming on against Lyon. He picked up the assist for Bernardo Silva’s goal and should start at left-wing.
