PL glory on the cards? – Liverpool signing this forgotten La Liga talent would be an absolute coup for Klopp

Liverpool FC Opinion: The Reds shouldn’t miss out on Dani Ceballos

According to a report from Mirror UK, Liverpool are interested in signing Dani Ceballos from Real Madrid. The Spaniard has caught the attention of a swarm of Europe’s Elite clubs, owing to his stupendous performances in the Euro U21 Championship, where Spain eventually ended as the winners.

However, his future at Madrid looks a far cry from the national team, as he was constantly overlooked by Zinedine Zidane in the previous season.

Ceballos-  a talented midfielder who often gets unnoticed.

Ceballos joined Los Blancos from Real Betis in 2015 and has found himself as an outcast since then, featuring in only 35 games in La Liga for the past two seasons.

Elsewhere, on becoming the captain for Spain’s U21 national team, the 23-year-old  cut an impressive figure by scoring 6 goals in 11 games, playing a major role behind the title win. A central midfielder by trade,  the 22-year-old can also play as an attacking midfielder.

Liverpool need to tweak their midfield

While their attacking line-up and strong defensive line look intact at the moment, the Reds need to bring some firepower to their midfield, given that Gini Wijnaldum and James Milner are in their 30s.

At the same time, Naby Keita also underwent an injury-laden season, which turned out to be a  big reason for his inconsistency.

James Milner

Jurgen Klopp can benefit highly from the services of Ceballos, who is currently in need of a destination with more playing time.  The former Betis man held a pass success percentage of more than 90 in La Liga last season and in the Euro U21 as well.

In addition, he averaged 3.8 dribbles and 2.8 key passes while wearing his national jersey.

The German manager can extract the best version of Ceballos if he offers him more playing time and a vote of confidence, unlike the Spaniard’s disappointing spell with Los Blancos.

Final Verdict

Upon winning the Champions League title last season, Klopp’s ultimate goal must be to end their long-running Premier League trophy drought and a productive signing like Ceballos would help them in achieving the mammoth task.
