Players Who Have No Future At Chelsea Next Season: These 2 Legends Out?

published :

Seven points clear at the top of the table with a game in hand, Chelsea have almost secured the Premier League crown from Manchester City and barring a rather crazy collapse you will not be seeing any other team win the Premier League this season. However, the season has not been all rosy for the Blues as Champions League heartbreak was provided by PSG. Many a time their players have not been able to batter opponents like they should have, case in point the Hull City and QPR games.

The team needs to always cull out the weeds and this is exactly what we will be trying to do. We look at the players who have played out their last games for Chelsea and it is time for them to depart, there is no room for sentiment in football like there is no sentiment when you face your mates in FIFA and they picked the wrong team.

Didier Drogba

Alright, so this is not much of a cull but more of an end to an era. Drogba has been a legend at Chelsea and his second stint will come to an end come this season. The bigger issue will not be him leaving the club but finding a replacement. Chelsea will need someone who is good in the air and someone who has the strength to bully teams, not easy to find.

Petr Cech

The Czech goalkeeper has not been a regular this season thanks to the exploits of Thibaut Courtois and the 32-year-old seems set to leave the club as he searches for more regular football. He might even remain in the Premier League as he still is one of the best goalkeepers around and simply staying on the bench will not help his cause.

Filipe Luis

Touted to be one of the best defenders at the club, Luis has not found it easy playing for Chelsea. In fact, he has not been able to get into the starting line-up and is often out-placed by Azpiliueta. Age is not on Luis’ side either as he is 29 years-old and he probably is set to leave the club after just one season in London.

John Obi Mikel

With Nemanja Matic playing such a crucial role in the rise of the Chelsea midfield, it is pretty hard to imagine anyone else playing beside the creative influence of Cesc Fabregas. Mikel might have left Chelsea come the end of the season as it is but with Matic becoming such an important clog in the system, Mikel’s time has come for Chelsea.
