Poor Mkhitaryan – The Bad And The Worst Rated Manchester United Players From The Shock 2-1 Loss To Bristol City

Final Score: Bristol City 2-1 Manchester United

Manchester United succumbed to a 2-1 loss against Bristol City in the Carabao Cup quarterfinal encounter last night. Goals from Joe Bryant and Korey Smith were enough to ensure that Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s goal did not cause much damage and the Red Devils eventually had to bow out of the competition. Scenes of jubilation engulfed the Ashton Gate as Jose Mourinho cut a frustrated figure on the field.

The Red Devils once again lacked energy and they were quite poor in the final third. With that in mind, let’s take a look at how the players fared against Bristol City.

Manchester United Player Ratings

Sergio Romero – 6/10

Romero was quite solid in terms of aerial displays but there was very little he could do to keep Bristol’s goals away.

Matteo Darmian – 5/10

Darmian’s weaknesses were exposed and he was nowhere to be seen when Bristol pressed with attacks. He was slow and just not good enough.

Victor Lindelof – 7/10

Lindelof was the best out of the defenders and did his duties quite diligently but eventually lost his marker which ultimately led to a goal. Nevertheless, he seemed a lot more composed on the field.

Marcos Rojo – 5.5/10

Rojo looked nervy at times but he was decent enough in the first half. However, once Bristol started attacking, the player looked lost.

Luke Shaw – 6.5/10

Shaw put in a disciplined performance but was immensely troubled by Brownhill throughout the game.

Daley Blind – 6.5/10

Blind was deployed in a midfield role and he was decent enough in that area. In fact, he made one stupendous tackle on Bobby Reid right before the break.

Scott McTominay – 7/10

McTominay put in a reassuring performance and he did the basics quite well. The player maintained possession admirably.

Paul Pogba – 6/10

Pogba may have dominated the midfield in terms of possession but he was quite poor in the final third and could not create many chances.

Marcus Rashford – 5/10

Rashford’s decision-making skills cost him as the youngster endured a frustrating second half. His efforts were kept out during both halves.

Anthony Martial – 6/10

Martial acted as an attacking outlet at times and even made one good cross to aid Ibrahimovic but besides that, there was little he did in terms of creating chances.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic – 7/10

Scored the only goal for United and seemed quite in control. However, it is quite evident that he has not played for a long time and he seemed rusty on several occasions.

Subs:

Romelu Lukaku – 7.5/10

Lukaku truly brought about a change in dynamics to the attack and injected some much-needed energy.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan – 5/10

Mkhitaryan came on around the 70-minute mark but did very little to impact the game.
