Liverpool will be looking to put their FA Cup disappointment behind them when they take on West Bromwich Albion at the Hawthorns on Saturday. Brendan Rodgers and co. will be looking to close the gap on Manchester City as the Reds chase that coveted Champions League spot.
Let’s take a look at the Liverpool lineup expected to take the field against the Baggies
Goalkeeper – Simon Mignolet.
Simon Mignolet is undoubtedly the No.1 choice for Liverpool in goal. No head scratching for Brendan Rodgers on this one.
Defence – Can, Skrtel, Lovren.
Kolo Toure proved to be a disaster at the Emirates and with the experiment with Emre Can at right back failing against Villa, Brendan Rodgers is likely to revert to a back three.
With Mamadou Sakho out injured, Martin Skrtel and Dejan Lovren will partner Emre Can in the backline.
Midfield – Gerrard, Allen, Henderson, Moreno.
Lucas Leiva is out with a knock that saw him miss a Wembley date with Aston Villa. Jordan Henderson and the silky Joe Allen will look to control the midfield. Adam Lallana faces a late fitness test, which could mean Steven Gerrard could come back into the team in an advanced central position.
Forwards – Ibe, Coutinho, Sterling.
Raheem Sterling is expected to lead the line while Daniel Sturridge continues to nurse a hip injury. Philippe Coutinho has been Liverpool’s best player this season, and will be looking to find spaces in midfield to feed Sterling. The rampaging Jordan Ibe should feature on the right side of the front three.
