Possible Manchester United Lineup To Face West Ham United – Mata Benched, Blind, Fellaini And Di Maria To Start

Louis Van Gaal

Manchester United would be looking to strengthen their hold in the Top 3 when they travel to Upton Park this Sunday. Sam Allardyce’s side have already embarrassed Liverpool and Manchester City at home this season and given United’s away record, this match promises to be a test for the rejuvenated side from Old Trafford.

Michael Carrick’s absence remains the only injury worry for manager Louis van Gaal as the Englishman is ruled out for a month with a muscle rupture.

Let’s take a look at the United side which could take the field in the late kickoff on Sunday.

Goalkeeper – David De Gea

David De Gea has started every Premier League game for the Red Devils this season and with a contract extension likely to be on the cards, there’s nothing more Van Gaal would want than to tie his first choice keeper down with a long term contract.

Defence – Valencia, Jones, Rojo, Shaw.

Marcos Rojo has been United’s most consistent central defender and should slot in to central defence to make way for Luke Shaw at left back. Antonio Valencia should replace the impressive Paddy McNair and Phil Jones should edge out Jonny Evans to lineup alongside Rojo.

Midfield – Blind, Fellaini, Di Maria, Rooney.

Daley Blind should sit in front of the back four and Marouane Fellaini should switch back to central midfield to counter West Ham’s physical prowess. Angel Di Maria has been in a patchy run of form but there were flashes of brilliance against Cambridge to suggest the Argentine is getting back to his best. Wayne Rooney should play further forward at the tip of the diamond.

Forwards – Robin van Persie, Falcao.

Robin van Persie and Falcao both scored against Leicester City while James Wilson found the net against Cambridge. Louis van Gaal is likely to give Falcao more opportunities to stake a claim for a permanent deal with the Columbian showing signs he is getting to grips with United’s system.
