Possible Spain Lineup To Face Slovakia: Chelsea And Manchester City Stars To Start

Spain take on Slovakia at home in a Euro 2016 qualifying match knowing that nothing short of three points would suffice after Vincente Del Bosque’s side lost earlier in the campaign to Slovakia. Spain need four points from their next two qualifying games against Slovakia and Macedonia and need Ukraine to lose both their upcoming games to confirm a place in the Euros.

Let’s take a look at the Spain lineup likely to take the field against Slovakia tomorrow night.

Goalkeeper – Iker Casillas

David De Gea has off-the-field issues to sort out before he earns his place back in the Manchester United and Spain lineups, while Porto’s summer acquisition Casillas is likely to play in goal against Jan Kozak’s side.

Defence – Juanfran, Pique, Ramos, Alba.

Gerard Pique and Sergio Ramos have earned praise from their manager, who has called the duo as ‘the best centre back partnership in the world’, and the pair should play at the heart of the defence in this crucial encounter. Juanfran and Jordi Alba are expected to play in their full back roles.

Midfield – Busquets, Iniesta, Isco, Silva, Pedro.

Sergio Busquets and Andres Iniesta are expected to shield the backline and add stability and creativity to the Spanish midfield. Pedro Rodriquez and Isco will hold the flanks with the Real Madrid man starting to show his mettle in International colors in recent games.

David Silva, Spain’s top scorer in Euro Qualifying with 3 goals in 6 games, will be keen to translate his form in the Premier League into the European stage with Spain as he lines up in his favorite position, just behind the striker in the hole.

Striker – Diego Costa

Diego Costa has failed to make his mark in the Spain team as he has done for Chelsea in England, but the Blues’ star will be looking to make amends as he is expected to start ahead of Paco Alcacer as the front line striker.
