Vardy Out, Slimani In – Strongest 4-4-2 Leicester City Line-Up To Face Liverpool In The PL

Predicted Leicester City Line-up To Face Liverpool In The Premier League

Leicester City will look for a repeat of their midweek result, when they take on Liverpool again at the King Power Stadium, on Saturday, in the game-week 6 of the Premier League.

The Foxes handed Jurgen Klopp’s side a 2-0 defeat in the third round of the Carabao Cup on Tuesday night, courtesy of second-half goals from Shinji Okazaki and Islam Slimani. Manager Craig Shakespeare will be hoping that his team achieve a similar outcome this weekend at home, to get their Premier League campaign back on track. Leicester are currently 15th in the league table, with just 4 points from 5 games.

Team News

Christian Fuchs trained earlier this week, after recovering from his eye injury and should be available for selection. However, the same cannot be said about midfielder Matty James who is unlikely to recover from his Achilles problem. Jamie Vardy too is a bit of a doubt, due to his groin problem. Leonardo Ulloa is set to miss out after coming off injured on Tuesday night with a neck injury.

Here’s how Leicester could take the field against Liverpool on Saturday:

Manager: Craig Shakespeare

Formation: 4-4-2

Kasper Schmeichel (GK)

The Danish stopper did not feature in the midweek game, with Ben Hamer starting. Expect him to come back into the playing XI.

Danny Simpson (RB)

Another player who wasn’t involved during the cup encounter, the 30-year old will walk back into the line-up at right-back, replacing Daniel Amartey.

Wes Morgan (CB)

Played the full ninety minutes against the Reds on Tuesday and is very much likely to do so again on Saturday.

Harry Maguire (CB)

One of the Foxes’ best players this season so far, the former Hull City man should come back into the starting setup, in place of Aleksandar Dragovic.

Christian Fuchs (LB)

After missing out in the last two games due to a freakish eye injury, the left-back should come back into the playing XI, with Ben Chilwell making way.

Riyad Mahrez (RM)

The Algerian winger wasn’t a part of the starting XI on Tuesday night, but will line up from the get-go on the right flank, come Saturday.

Andy King (CM)

With Matty James still unavailable, Andy King should start in the middle of the park, ahead of Vicente Iborra, who was preferred in the cup tie.

Wilfred Ndidi (CM)

The 20-year old has become a mainstay in the middle of the park for the Foxes. Has started every game this season and that isn’t likely to change on Saturday.

Islam Slimani (left) and Shinji Okazaki (right)

Marc Albrighton (LM)

The former Aston Villa man will switch back to the left-hand side of the midfield after starting on the right flank in the midweek, with Demarai Gray likely to drop out.

Shinji Okazaki (ST)

Came on in the second period and turned the match on Tuesday, scoring the first goal. Should feature from the start at the weekend.

Islam Slimani (ST)

With Jamie Vardy a doubt, the other goal-scorer from the cup game, Islam Slimani, should start once again at the top.
