With Manchester United being the last team to kick off this gameweek, they know that the pressure is on them to pick three points to catapult themselves back to 4th place. The injury list also looks to be easing which means that Louis Van Gaal is slowly having more options to choose from, especially at the back. With no Champions League fixture to bother them midweek, Van Gaal will definitely pick his best team to face West Brom at the Hawthorns. Here at Soccersouls, we try to pick the Manchester United side which would probably face West Brom on monday.
Goalkeeper:
David De Gea
Even with all the injuries, this is one area Manchester United have had no problems with, as the young Spaniard has really stepped up this season. Even with youthful defenders like Paddy McNair, De Gea has been commanding in his goal and has countless times made breathtaking saves this season already. David De Gea will most certainly be starting in goal against West Brom.
Defenders:
Rafael, Phil Jones, Marcos Rojo, Luke Shaw
With Phil Jones coming back from injury, Louis Van Gaal can finally field a defensive lineup which actually looks like a Premier League defence for once. Rafael on the right with Phil Jones and Marcos Rojo as central defenders. Although Rojo is primarily a left back, he has been doing the job for Manchester United as the left sided central defender and we expect that to continue with Luke Shaw lining up on the left hand once more.
Midfielders:
Daley Blind, Ashley Young, Angel Di Maria, Juan Mata
We expect Daley Blind to start as the single pivot in this game as Louis Van Gaal will definitely bank on his offensive options to get him the points at the Hawthorns. With Wayne Rooney still suspended, Juan Mata will get one more chance to impress at the tip of the Manchester United midfield. Angel Di Maria will start from the left but he will get to operate in a free role as he will try to continue his impressive form going ever since his move to Manchester United. Ashley Young on the right completes the midfield for this Manchester United side.
Attack:
Radamel Falcao and Robin Van Persie
Although there is some speculation that Robin Van Persie is on the verge of being sidelined for Manchester United, there is no doubt that he will start this game and try to get some goals under his belt. He will be partnered by Radamel Falcao who got his first goal for his new club against Everton in the last Premier League fixture and will be trying to make sure that he continues his form.
