SoccerSouls’ Premier League Team Of The Season (so far) – featuring Manchester United, Arsenal, and Chelsea stars.
With almost half of the season through we have seen some amazing performances by the players in the Premier League. The league is home to some of the best players in the world and here we bring you the Premier League team of the season so far.
David De Gea
Although the Spaniard may not hold the record for most clean sheets, his performances for Manchester United have been extraordinary. De Gea has won games for Manchester United on his own, this is something that is expected by a goal scorer though De Gea has won games being a goalkeeper. He has played so well for United that there have been rumours of him heading to Real Madrid to replace Iker Casillas, whatever happens, he has been the best goalkeeper this season.
Branislav Ivanovic
The Chelsea right back has been one of the most consistent players for the Blues this season. Ivanovic has been absolutely fantastic down the right hand side of the Chelsea team and he has defended as well as he has attacked for the league leaders this season.
James Tomkins
A surprise inclusion but James Tomkins is one of the reasons why West Ham United are in the top 4 this season. Calm on the ball yet can defend really well, his form has been a revelation this season and could end up with an England call up.
Gary Cahill
It was a tough choice between Terry and Cahill, with Cahill only getting the nod because he as a little more pace than the Chelsea captain. Cahill has done very well in the Chelsea defence and has often snuffed out attacks for the Blues, probably the best centre back pairing with John Terry, Chelsea have one of the best defences this season being led by him.
Gael Clichy
The former Arsenal player has done well ever since he moved to Manchester City, although he hasn’t hit the heights in terms of form when he played for Arsenal, he has been one of the best defenders in the City team and deserves to be in the team of the season.
Nemanja Matic
The Serbian Tank is the best defensive midfielder in the league, he probably is one of Jose Mourinho’s untouchable players, and he just cannot be dropped. His partnership with Cesc Fabregas has set the Chelsea team on fire and he also protects that defence of Chelsea when they need it.
Cesc Fabregas
Brought back into the Premier League by Jose Mourinho, Cesc Fabregas has found his form for Chelsea and has provided a league leading 11 assists in the league. Mourinho has actually made Fabregas a much better player than he was at Barcelona and the Spanish midfielder is paying his manager back in some style.
Gylfi Sigurdsson
Gylfi has been the best player for Swansea City, the Icelandic international has provided 8 assists in the league ever since he returned back to the Liberty Stadium after an ill-fated move to Tottenham. Gylfi is back home and he is showing it in style.
Alexis Sanchez
The Chilean has been the one player who has performed consistently for Arsenal, brought in from Barcelona, Sanchez has scored 9 goals in the league this season and has provided 5 assists in the league, Arsenal fans must be thanking their stars they got to sign Alexis.
Sergio Aguero
Possibly the best striker in the world, even with injury issues Sergio Aguero has been on fire this season, he has scored the most number of goals in the league this season with 14 and probably would have smashed a few more scoring records had it not been for his injuries.
Diego Costa
The Spanish forward has hit the ground running for Chelsea; he needed no bedding in time to get acclimatized to the Premier League and has scored 12 goals. Costa is physical, can finish well and makes intelligent runs to stretch defences.
