Manchester United and Jose Mourinho spent some insane amount of money in the summer transfer window on some of the best players in Europe. This has seen some of the players already at the club find no game time this season. One such player who might be moving away from the club in January is Dutch international Memphis Depay. The 22-year old is one of the most exciting talents in world football but he has not been able to thrive in the Premier League yet and is linked with a move to Everton. Ronald Koeman is reportedly desperate for his signature but what will the winger add to the squad at the Goodison Park? Here are the pros and cons of his move to Everton:

Here are the pros and cons of his move to Everton:

Pros:

Obviously, the biggest weapon in Depay’s locker is his age. At 22, he is still at the start of his career and the reputation he has already built might have been too much of pressure for him to handle. At his age, he is a raw talent, who needs proper guidance and time to grow into a world-class player and neither Louis van Gaal nor Mourinho can afford to do so at a club like United. But at Everton, Koeman might work wonders with the winger for a while in his starting lineup and can groove him into a top class player in years to come.

His quality is unquestionable and his return of 50 goals from 124 games for PSV as a winger is extraordinary. Though he has not been able to replicate the form in Manchester, he is a genuine goal scorer and will stick into the game style of Koeman which depends on goal scoring midfielders. Depay is a top quality player who has all the skills in the world and he is also strong with the set-pieces. He is a potential superstar and a move to Everton might be the moment that might spark his career to life.

Cons:

The biggest problem for Depay in England has been the competitiveness and the physical approach of the league. With due respect to the Dutch domestic league, PSV are not really tested in their top flight and are no match to some of the best teams in England. So Depay has taken time to adjust to the needs of the league and is yet to provide some decent returns to the side. He is low on confidence at the moment and the amount of pressure on him every time he comes out to play is only making it worse. His price tag also adds excess pressure on him which has surely taken its toll. So it will be interesting to see if Depay can have any kind of an effect on a new team, halfway through the season.

It is also not a secret that he has a few problems with his attitude and at 22, this might be the right time for Depay to let go of things that are pulling him down and is time for him to soar high.

Do you think he will be a hit at the Goodison Park for the second half of the season?
