Fortuna Düsseldorf are a Bundesliga club who currently find themselves in 12th position, fighting for a place in the top half of the table. While a lot of their players have done decently well this season, their defensive commander has certainly been Turkish international centre-half Kaan Ayhan.

Born in 1994, the 24-year-old has become a key part of the German club’s core while he has also featured regularly for his country.

His defensive contributions to Düsseldorf this season have been unquestionable while he has displayed an impeccable work rate too.

Rangers, under the guidance of Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard, have looked a different prospect this season as they have challenged Celtic in the title race right from the start.

Although they have fallen off the pace now, the attempt they showcased in Gerard’s first season in charge will certainly come as motivation. 

A little bit more investment would take the club a long way. With quality players all around, the Gers have a fairly strong side topped off by a free-scoring Alfredo Morelos up front. 

If there is one issue that needs to be addressed, then it’s the central defence as one of their centre-halves is currently 39 years old.

Finding a replacement for him sooner than later will be a smart move by Gerrard. With Joe Worrall and Nikola Katic both still only 22, the addition of an experienced head will help. 

They must make a move for Mainz Fortuna Düsseldorf centre-half Kaan Ayhan as the Turkish international has the potential to be a leader in the Rangers dressing room. 

With a keen eye for interceptions and blocks, the 24-year-old really knows how to command a defence and this signing, if completed, will come as a massive boost to Gerrard’s trophy hopes next season.
