The former Liverpool manager’s first season at Ibrox is going to end without any silverware, despite signs of progression.

Gerrard strongly believes that the lack of discipline from his players has cost the Gers a lot this season.

Speaking ahead of the derby, the former English international warned his players that they will end up with no success for the upcoming season unless they stay disciplined. (h/t Daily Star UK)

“I don’t know the exact numbers of games or minutes but we’ve had too many good players missing for important parts of the season and if we don’t improve our discipline I predict we could have a similar season to the one we’re having next year.

“There is no way you can be successful if your big players are missing for big games.”

Alfredo Morelos, the Gers’ go-to-guy, has been sensational this season at Ibrox, with an impressive goal tally of 29.

Yet, the Colombian striker’s brilliance is marred by his on-field misconduct, which saw him often getting suspended.

Morelos has received five red cards this season, alongside two suspension spells, an unnecessary record for any player.

Furthermore, his absence has reflected in many big games this season.

Gerrard added, (h/t Daily Star UK)

As the manager of this team, I do everything I can to support the players.

“But they have got to respect the club, the supporters and what we’re trying to achieve here.

He also added that he is not worried about the Champions Celtic’s current form, as his only focus is to get three points.

The Light Blues won all of their last four games, which should help their confidence.

Morelos is expected to make his return this Sunday, while Allan McGregor was suspended for his red card in the Hibernian clash.
