The Hoops thrashed the Gers 2-1 in what proved to be yet another fierce derby.

And the Colombian forward received his fifth red card of the season after hitting out at the Bhoys skipper Scott Brown.

Furthermore, the 22-year-old hand has been handed with a four-match ban following the assault.

In the wake of the incident, Gerrard has given an internal punishment which was solely accepted by Morelos.

“He has shown remorse and accepted the punishment I have given him.

“We spoke to his representation as well and everyone is on the same page.

Gerrard added that he has empathized Morelos’ situation and would continue to offer his support.

He commented, (h/t The Daily Record UK)

You have to have a long look in the mirror and think about his teammates and supporters have to go through once he leaves the pitch. You have to think of other people.”

Morelos has been one of the most reliable players for the former Liverpool star this season. He has bagged 29 goals so far across all competitions, making him the top scorer of the Premiership.

And the incredible run of form earned him a national call-up from the manager, Carlos Queiroz.

He, in fact, drew praises from the fans and fellow mates James Rodriguez, Falcao for his cameo against Japan.

However, his disciplinary actions on the field have completely dented his personality.

Gerrard lauds Ryan Kent

Ibrox boss further picked Ryan Kent as his best player on Sunday. The Liverpool-bound winger scored the only goal for the Gers and he has been in excellent form this season.

“Ryan Kent was magnificent on Sunday; he was the best player on the pitch in my opinion.”

Unfortunately, Kent is also speculated to receive a suspension from the SFA Compliance Office after the referees missed out his assault on Brown.

The Gers will be playing the Hearts this Thursday.
