Mario Balotelli signed for French club Nice this summer and so far he has had a comparatively good start at the club. Balotelli was not able to make his mark at the Anfield and nor was he able to replicate his form in Manchester City during his loan endeavours.
While the player has had a wonderful start at the French club, Nice president Jean Pierre Rivere has revealed that Balotelli’s agent Mino Raiola, who handles most sought-after players the likes of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Paul Pogba, etc, warned Rivere over signing the Italian striker. Raiola reportedly stated all the reasons as to why nobody should sign Balotelli, but Rivere discerns them as sale tactics although Balotelli’s deal was done unhappily by the agent.
“Before an important meeting with Mario, which was delayed because of plane troubles, Mino told me all sorts of reasons why I should not take this player,” said Rivère in an interview with French publication L’equipe, according to getfootballnewsfrance.com.
“And when the player arrived, he said to him: “There you go, I told the President everything that is bad about you.” These are sales tactics. He has brought Balotelli to Nice but I am not sure he has done this happily. He told me: “For once, Mario gets to choose his destination.”
Nice signed the Italian as a deadline day signing on a free transfer from Liverpool, where the player had no place under manager Jurgen Klopp.
