Newcastle will look to display their dominance at this level when they travel to Elland Road to face in-form Leeds who themselves are looking to maintain their position in the play-off places.

There were a few pieces of contrasting news from Benitez pre-match press conference. Firstly it is looking likely that Jonjo Shelvey will be available for the trip to Leeds as he has appealed his FA charge and his ban will be delayed until that is decided. However, it is bad news for Newcastle youngster Rolando Aarons who suffered an injury that will see him out for the rest of the season.

Karl Darlow

Now the number one choice ahead of Matz Sels, Darlow will look to keep up the impressive form that has helped Newcastle to maintain one of the meanest defences in the league.

DeAndre Yedlin

The young American is really starting to impress and is one that looks to have cemented a first team place. He gained an assist in the last match and will look to get forward at every chance.

Jamal Lascelles

Captain fantastic will have a battle on his hands against Leeds target man Chris Woods and will need to keep him quiet if Newcastle are to be victorious.

Ciaran Clark

The defender signed from Aston Villa has looked very comfortable at this level and has struck up a solid partnership with Lascelles.

Paul Dummett

Newcastle have other left backs returning from injury, but it is likely that the Welsh international will fend off competition and retain his place for the foreseeable future after some solid performances.

Isaac Hayden

Hayden has impressed since his move to Newcastle and faces a difficult time in the not too distant future if midfield partner Jonjo Shelvey receives a ban. But is a dependable midfield defensive screen in front of the defence.

Jonjo Shelvey

Newcastle fans will be delighted that he is available for this match and will hope he wins his appeal. Probably the most important Newcastle player, he simply makes them tick.

Matt Ritchie

Will face competition from Atsu who performed well in his last match, but Ritchie is a great player at this level and should win back his spot. Will look to improve his goal return to match his output in his last spell in the Championship with Bournemouth.

Yoan Gouffran

There is much talk about his future, but he is unbeaten under Benitez and has become a very important cog in the team on the left of midfield.

Ayoze Perez

Faces competition from Mo Diame, but the young Spaniard has a lot more technical ability and is a player that the Newcastle fans prefer in this position. They will hope that Benitez has the same opinion.

Dwight Gayle

Another position that is hotly contested with Mitrovic capable of scoring goals. However, he started in the last match and failed to hit the back of the net. Given the goalscoring form of Gayle, you would think that he will be back in the starting line-up.
