Rodgers reuniting with this outstanding Celtic talent would be a huge coup for Leicester in the summer – opinion

Leicester City Opinion – Should Leicester sign Kieran Tierney?

According to a report in the Scottish Sun, new Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers will make a £25million move for Celtic left-back Kieran Tierney if Ben Chilwell leaves King Power Stadium for Manchester City in the summer.

Rodgers gave Tierney a contract extension at Parkhead, tying his future until 2023 but he now wants to sign the Scottish left-back.

As per another report in the Scottish Sun, Arsenal are also interested in the left-back when the window opens. The Gunners have been tracking his progress for the past three years.

Even though Celtic would be sceptical of letting one of their own leave, a big-money offer could derail their determination (h/t Scottish Sun). Here’s why Leicester City should support Rodgers and help him sign Tierney in the summer:

Tierney would be ideal for Leicester under Rodgers

Having played under Brendan Rodgers at Celtic, Tierney would understand the system the manager would deploy at Leicester. Furthermore, the 21-year-old is a prodigious young talent who has taken Scottish football by storm in the past couple of years.

He possesses all the attributes a proper left-back should have in his armoury. Tierney has the blistering pace to make runs up and down the pitch and beat the opposition winger. He uses his physicality and defensive sturdiness to make tackles and interceptions.

Moreover, the Scotsman cannot be left unmarked near the opposition box as he has a tasty left foot that can deliver fantastic crosses into the box. All in all, if Leicester manage to sign him, the King Power stadium would witness a special talent on show week in week out.

Conclusion

With reports emerging that Ben Chilwell is a target for Manchester City, the Foxes must do everything to replace one of their own with Celtic’s own.
