Ronaldo sold, Benzema next – Real Madrid should sign world-class attacking duo as replacements and start afresh under Lopetegu

Ronaldo sold, Real Madrid should offload Benzema, buy Hazard and Lewandowski

Real Madrid have sold their glittering star, Cristiano Ronaldo to Juventus and are seeking to rebuild their squad under new manager Julien Lopetegui. Striker Karim Benzema was a regular under former boss Zinedine Zidane but it was visible that the Bernabeu crowd wasn’t always pleased with the Frenchman’s performances.

So, it will make complete sense for Lopetegui to sell Benzema and look for other options in this transfer window. It will also allow the manager to make a fresh beginning and embark a new dawn for the European champions.

Buy Hazard and Lewandowski

Selling Ronaldo indicated the fact that Los Blancos will be in the market for a talisman and they are ready to bid £150m for Eden Hazard to epitomise that certitude. The Belgian will bring a different class to the Spanish capital, something with which Lopetegui can build his forward line upon.

Eden Hazard

Hazard has even expressed his interest in leaving Chelsea if the big offer comes and Real Madrid should pounce on this opportunity to snap him up.

By getting rid of Benzema, the Los Blancos will not only offload a player who isn’t the most famous at the club, they can open up a vacancy to sign Robert Lewandowski too. The Polish striker has stated that he is ready to leave Bayern Munich to play elsewhere. The European champions should sign him as well, to enhance their goalscoring prowess.

The idea of Real Madrid hiring Lopetegui as their new manager was simply based on the fact they require someone who can stay at the club for a long-term project. So, the Spaniard will be given time and transfer market support to build a fresh team.

Verdict

Therefore, the first plan should be to acquire players who can be at the club for at least the next half a decade or so. Offloading Ronaldo, 33, was a step in the right direction in sync to the philosophy inherited.

Madrid are still a quality team with an abundance of young talents and a feast of experienced players. However, to build a team which can match the recent history of the club, it will require shrewd business in the market. They need to make sure that players like Hazard and Lewandowski play for them next season to have any chance of regaining the La Liga title.
