Leeds will host Championship leaders Newcastle with an eye on beating them and moving close to the top. The Yorkshire club have been in great form in recent weeks, and Garry Monk has them playing some great football which has left Leeds fans dreaming of a return to the Premier League.

This is a fixture with a long history with the two clubs having played each other 87 times since their first meeting. Newcastle have won 37, and Leeds 33. Because of the magnitude of the fixture, it is a sellout match at Eland road with their biggest crowd in years expected. This goes a long way to showing that after years of gloom, the club has moved into a positive place once again.

With the exception of Pablo Hernandez, Leeds will look to name an unchanged team as they seek to retain the momentum that saw them win 3-2 last time out away to Norwich.

Rob Green

The experienced keeper adds much-needed experience to the Leeds side and will be vital both on and off the pitch as they push for promotion this season

Luke Ayling

The two-footed former Arsenal youth fullback has been a great buy for Leeds this season and has made the right-back spot his own.

Kyle Bartley

Another ex-Arsenal youth player, he made the move this season to Leeds on loan from parent club Swansea and has proven to be a vital signing, forming a good partnership with Jansson.

Pontus Jansson

Quite possibly the most important player in this Leeds side. The Swedish international joined the club on loan from Torino and has been a revelation. So much so, that Leeds fans are urging the club to sign him before his performances attract the attention of bigger clubs.

Charlie Taylor

The young English left back is attracting a lot of attention for his rampaging performances from left back. He has been linked with numerous Premier League clubs, and Leeds will be hoping to keep him if they are to get promotion.

Eunan O’Kane

The summer signing from Bournemouth has come to life in recent weeks and has shown that he is an important player for the Leeds side, especially in the absence of Leeds Captain Liam Bridcutt.

Kalvin Phillips

The 20-year-old Leeds midfielder stepped into the Leeds line-up with more regularity this season after they sold Lewis Cook last season. And it is no surprise that they were happy to take such a big fee for Cook, as Phillips has shown himself to be a promising replacement.

Kemar Roofe

Another player to join Leeds in the summer after having a particularly impressive year last year on loan to League 2 outfit Oxford. Didn’t make the grade for West Brom but is looking like fulfilling his potential this year at Leeds.

Ronaldo Vieira

The player with the best name in football. How could you not be a good player with a name like that? And it is looking like the 18-year-old is just that. He came on for Leeds to score a late winner against Norwich, and he looks set to replace Pablo Hernandez here.

Souleymane Doukara

The Duke as he is known is one player that has actually been at the club for a few years. He offers pace and the ability to sometimes come up with a goal, so Leeds will be hoping for a strong performance from him on Sunday if they are to get a result.

Chris Wood

One of the most important Leeds players this season simply because of his goals. The striker is the Leeds top scorer and offers great hold up play and aerial ability. If Leeds beat Newcastle, there is a good chance this man will be on the scoresheet.
