Scout Report: Who Is This 26-Year-Old Ukrainian Manchester United Are Keeping Tabs On?

5472-1

Manchester United were one of the many clubs that spent big in the summer transfer window. Jose Mourinho, the new manager at the helm, has managed to add some quality players to his squad but is not entirely satisfied with the performances of the squad as a whole so far. The recent game against Stoke City showed that there is a lot of room for improvement and it does not come as a surprise that the manager is looking at other players from Europe to solve his problems when the transfer window reopens. One such player who is now extensively linked with the club is the Ukrainian international Andriy Yarmolenko. Mourinho reportedly met with his agent earlier this week and it is understood that a move might finalize in January. So what will he bring to the Premier League?

Here is a scout report on the 26-year old attacker.

Born and bred up in Leningrad, Russia, Yarmolenko started his career at the age of 13 playing for Yunist Chernihiv. His first senior contract came at Desna Chernihiv where it took just a year to attract interests from Ukrainian giants Dynamo Kyiv who captured him in 2007. He made 37 appearances for the second string side that season and quickly moved to the senior side where he has now cemented a place in the starting XI. He has made more than 200 appearances in the domestic league in his country and has scored 83 goals so far.

Primarily a winger, Yarmolenko is one of the very few players in Europe who are strong with both feet. Gifted with incredible technique and an even better understanding of the game, the 26-year old is a vastly experienced international who has more than 60 caps for his country, also winning the Ukrainian player of the year award more than once in his career.

He is comfortable playing on either flank and is also effective through the middle. His skill and ability with the ball at his feet were evident in the many games that he has played against English opponents in the last few years. He has gathered loads of experience and will slot into most Premier League sides and is now linked with a move to one of the best sides in the League.

He is quick and smart and that makes him hard to pin down. He is also a player who can make things happen from nowhere. He is at times is criticized for the lack of defensive awareness but Jose Mourinho can really work that out. At his age, Yarmolenko still has plenty of time ahead of him and will surely grow on to become one of the best players ever for Ukraine. But his time in his country is not really letting him blossom into a European star and a move to Manchester United might just be the catalyst that he needs.

Other top clubs will surely have an eye on the 26-year old in the next transfer window and it will be important for Yarmolenko to make the right move. He is getting close to the best years of his career and he will want to play at the best possible club in Europe. A move to Manchester United will be a dream come true but if he is not able to cement his place in the side, he may well be making a mistake, leaving regular game time behind in Ukraine.
