Scouting For Brendan Rodgers – 2 Strikers Celtic Could Look To Sign This Including Huddersfield Town Ace

Two Strikers Who Celtic Must Look To Sign In The Summer

Although they are bullishly insisting that their prized asset is going nowhere this summer, Celtic must secretly be all too aware that Moussa Dembele could be gone by August.

Despite only signing last summer on a free transfer from Fulham, Dembele was the subject of bids as large as £40million in January from Chelsea and will be much sought after again, come June. It’s true that he has been a part of a dominant side in Scotland. However, his finishing has been superb and there’s little doubt that the gap between Celtic and the rest of the Scottish teams would have been much smaller without Dembele.

If the worst does happen and the Parkhead club lose their star man, they will need to act quickly to replace his goals. Scott Sinclair looks set for a second season in Glasgow and the club are hopeful of retaining Stuart Armstrong too, so supply should not be completely cut off.

It’s the finishing touch though, which will badly be missed without the young Frenchman and here are two strikers Celtic may turn to, in order to replace at least some of his goals.

Nahki Wells

Wells has had 3 good years at Huddersfield and may yet fire the Yorkshire side to the Premier League. Should that happen there would be no doubt about him wanting to stay at the John Smith’s Stadium and pit his wits against the best defenders in the country.

The playoffs are a lottery and so top division football is far from guaranteed. In any case, the lure of possible Champions League football is a major draw and so Celtic, at least for now, can continue to attract players of a reasonable standard and Wells may be one of them.

The former Carlisle and Bradford City player has managed 10 goals in 38 Championship games this season and, while it is impossible to know how he will cope in Europe, he would surely cause enough damage in the Scottish Premiership.

Samuel Armenteros

The former Swedish under-21 international has been in fine form this season for Heracles in the Dutch Eredivisie and could yet be a surprise target for some of England and Scotland’s top clubs.

16 goals in 25 games this season for the left-footer represents a rise in his form – something which has been trending upwards for a few years now. Armenteros has now passed double figures 3 times in the Eredivisie but this is by far his best season to date. The fact that he is 26 now means he is probably reaching his peak and it may just be the right time to snap him up.
