After a poor start of Vincent Janssen, Tottenham are reportedly looking to sign another forward to be the replacement and competitor of Harry Kane’s spot in Spurs lineup. They brought Janssen last summer but seeing his numbers and his performances so far this season, he is unlikely to stay for a long time in this team.
The lack of scoring in the past few weeks has been a major issue for Spurs, as they started the campaign in a great shape, beating great teams and having great matches in tough territories, but now they are suffering to score more than one goal in every single game.
That’s why they’re reportedly scouting one of Primeira Liga’s sensation players, Moussa Marega, as the striker seems to be the right player to supply the goals that Spurs need while Harry Kane returns to his great shape again.
However, they have a big competitor in Liverpool, as Jurgen Klopp’s team will try to get this player regardless the amount of money Porto is asking for him (which is a little bit high). With all the news about Sturridge and his desire to leave Liverpool, Mousa appeared like the replacement of Daniel in case he actually wind up leaving Merseyside.
Klopp’s squad has been demolishing defenses along this season, with their lethal trio formed by Philippe Coutinho, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane. Therefore, Marega is expected to start most games from the bench, at least for a couple of months.
Plenty of teams have laid their eyes on Porto’s striker Moussa Marega. Right now, the 25-year-old is on loan from the “Dragoes” until next summer, playing for Victoria Guimaraes, where the striker has scored 10 goals in 8 games, to go along with a couple of assists and 3 man of the match distinctions.
We are in front of an explosive, powerful and fast player; he is a scoring machine and we have seen that through his first ten matches in Portugal Primeira Liga. He is still young and if he keeps this rhythm, the Malian striker will stay some years playing at maximum level.
Liverpool and Spurs seem to be the frontrunners to sign the speedster. Although, Porto knows a few things about selling and this time won’t be the exception as they put a £36m buyout clause in Marega’s contract. Since they know they have a gem in this player and with the great exposure and performances he’s having this season, there is a good possibility that Marega will increase his price from now to the ending of the year.
Terminator, as he’s been called due to his lethal finishing skills, Marega is a very versatile young player who can score pretty well with both feet and has a really decent aerial game as well, so he’ll be a great fit wherever he decides to go the next season.
It’s going to be a very interesting bidding war between Spurs and the Reds, and even if neither of them winds up signing the speedster, we definitely don’t expect to see him playing at Portugal for much long.
