Should Arsenal Sign This 20-Year-old Spanish Sensation?

Arsenal need a revamp of the squad in the summer, with several of the high-earning deadwood expected to bid goodbye to the confines of the Emirates soon. Arsenal are pretty sewn up in the playmaking department, with Santi Cazorla and Jack Wilshere set to pull the strings for years to come.

However, a former teammate of Cazorla at Malaga could add that extra bit of quality and send Arsenal up a level or two. Isco is having his best season yet at Malaga and was again instrumental in guiding his side to the Champions League quarterfinals. The attacking midfielder is of course capable of playing across the lines, and would suit Arsenal perfectly. A triumvirate of Wilshere, Cazorla and Isco has the capability to send shivers down the spines of any defense. Isco along with a defensive midfielder would be more than a perfect summer for the Gunners.

So, how likely is it for Arsenal to make a bid for Isco in the summer? This is where it gets tricky, The 20-year-old, who will turn 21 next month, has been closely linked with a move to Chelsea, with the Blues extremely keen on bringing the youngster to Stamford Bridge. The Spanish side recently extended his contract, and with it crucially increasing his buyout clause to €35 million (£30 million, $45 million).

Arsenal have plenty of money in their coffers and Wenger is reportedly finally ready to spend some of that cash in the summer. However, if Chelsea or Real come back in the summer, then matching the wages offered by the duo would pose a problem.

Arsenal do hold the slight advantage in the fact that they already have two former Malaga players in their lineup in Cazorla and Nacho Monreal – so settling into the English club would not be a problem for Isco. Is Wenger interested, though? He should be, considering the talent that Isco possesses, and having already dipped into the club on a couple of occasions, the Arsenal manager will definitely be aware of the possibility of going in one more time.

Whether Wenger finally spends some money on quality or not, only time will tell.
