Cardiff shouldn’t think twice about making a permanent move for 29-year-old loan star – would be a terrific move

Cardiff City opinion: Should the Bluebirds sign Harry Arter permanently?

Cardiff City’s fate in the Premier League hangs in the balance as Neil Warnock’s side are 5 points away from safety. The Bluebirds have shown real heart in recent games and were terribly unlucky to lose against Chelsea.

With 6 games left to play, Cardiff’s chances of survival are bleak but if results go their way, we could see them again in the top-flight next season.

One of Cardiff’s biggest positives this season has been the performances of Harry Arter. The 29-year old joined the Bluebirds on a season-long loan deal from Bournemouth and he has been an integral part of Neil Warnock’s side this season.

Arter’s future is uncertain, with the Englishman expected to return to the Cherries at the end of the season. However, Bournemouth have enough numbers in the middle of the park, especially after summer signing Jefferson Lerma’s performances to cement a spot in the starting line-up.

Arter is under contract with the Cherries until the summer of 2021 but with doubts over his role at the club, he should look at a move away. Cardiff should make their loan move permanent in the summer irrespective of where they finish in the league this season.

Arter has played 24 games for Cardiff so far this season and has been hugely influential for Neil Warnock’s side. The Bournemouth loanee has been used all across central midfield this season and his versatility has benefited Cardiff massively.

One of Arter’s biggest assets is his work rate. The 29-year-old is always on the move, giving his teammates an option to pass to. His movement is a massive headache to the opposition, who always have a hard time marking him.

Off the ball, Arter has been hugely influential with his defensive work this season. His tackling and interceptions have avoided a ton of danger for Cardiff and his presence has been of massive importance throughout their campaign.

Arter’s passing has also been a blessing for the Bluebirds this campaign and the Bournemouth man averages almost 35 passes a game with a very healthy passing accuracy of over 80%. These numbers are exceptional for a side who have rarely ever had possession this season.

Conclusion

Arter has been an incredible signing for Cardiff and the Bluebirds should do everything possible to make his deal permanent in the summer.

Arter’s presence in the midfield would play a massive role in keeping or bringing back Cardiff to the Premier League next season and Neil Warnock should not think twice about sealing the deal in the summer.
