Aston Villa must blindly complete a deal for their hotshot loan star no matter how difficult it gets – opinion

Aston Villa opinion: Should Villa sign Tammy Abraham permanently?

According to a report from the Daily Mail, Aston Villa are set to face competition from the Bundesliga for their on-loan striker Tammy Abraham with RB Leipzig keen to sign him on a permanent deal in the summer.

Abraham has been a star up front for the Villans since his arrival from Chelsea last summer, having scored a phenomenal 22 goals in the Championship.

His performances have given them a massive chance to achieve promotion back to the Premier League as the currently sit 5th in the league.

With 6 games still left in the league, Villa will be hugely dependent on Abraham’s goals to secure their place in the playoffs ahead of the likes of Derby County, Nottingham Forest and Middlesbrough among other teams.

Irrespective of where Villa end up at the start of next season, signing Abraham is a step in the right direction and would be a huge statement of intent by the club. Abraham has settled in nicely at Villa Park and has been a fan favourite.

Villa, however, will face a ton of obstacles in their pursuit of the 21-year-old and RB Leipzig is one of them. The German giants are on a decent run in the Bundesliga and look certain to qualify for the Champions League next season.

A European adventure is a dream for any young player and Abraham would be no different. Leipzig’s financial power is also greater than Villa’s and the Bundesliga outfit could potentially outspend the Villans to acquire his services.

Villa’s second issue would be Chelsea’s transfer ban. The Blues will be unable to recruit new players in the next two transfer windows unless their ban gets overturned and Chelsea might refuse to sell their prodigy.

The Blues have their own issues up top, with Gonzalo Higuain failing to impress and Alvaro Morata’s future at the club uncertain after he was sent out on loan to Atletico Madrid in January. This situation might prompt Maurizio Sarri to hold on to Abraham, which would be a massive blow for Villa.

Conclusion

Dean Smith’s side should be quick in their move and should strike a deal early with the Blues before things go against them in the summer. Abraham has already proven his worth at Villa Park and has thrived under Dean Smith so far.
