Sign him up: This £44m star could be the answer to Man United’s right-wing problems

Ante Rebic could be the perfect signing for Mourinho to end the summer business

Manchester United have had a relatively quiet transfer window compared to the other big clubs in the Premier League. Jose Mourinho brought in the likes of Lee Grant, Diogo Dalot and Fred last month. The Red Devils will be aiming to make a strong push this time after the club endured a frustrating campaign last season.

In his pre-season press conference, Mourinho didn’t seem to be very happy with the business the club had conducted. The manager added that he’d like to bring in two more players before the start of the season. The Red Devils had to go through a penalty shootout to get past AC Milan in the International Champions Cup.

Manchester United have been linked with Croatian star Ante Rebic over the last few days. Mourinho is reportedly interested in signing the Eintracht Frankfurt winger. The club had initially targeted fellow Croatian Ivan Perisic, but Mourinho has now reportedly turned his attention to his compatriot.

Ante Rebic

The winger is rated at a reported £44million, which means United are going to have to splash big in order to land his signature. He made the permanent move to Eintracht Frankfurt in 2018 after enjoying two successful loan spells with the club while he was tied to Fiorentina.

In his two years with the German outfit, Rebic went on to make a total of 49 appearances, scoring 8 goals.

Rebic made a total of 25 appearances in the Bundesliga last season, scoring 6 goals and providing 2 assists. He also scored 3 goals in 3 DFB Pokal appearances. The 24-year-old was also a crucial member of the Croatian squad that finished runners-up behind France at the World Cup in Russia. He scored 1 goal in 6 appearances, which came against Argentina.

He is generally deployed as a right-winger but Rebic is capable of playing in any role up front. The Frankfurt man is also comfortable playing in an unorthodox striker role. He’s fast on the ball and likes to take on defenders. The 24-year-old also possesses the ability to score stunners from long range. He boasted an average of 1.8 shots per game in the Bundesliga last season and also averaged 2.5 per game at the World Cup. He’s a smart winger who links up well with his teammates.

While Anthony Martial has been linked with a move away from the club, Mourinho could replace the Frenchman with Ante Rebic. He may not possess the pace and explosiveness of Martial, but the Croatian brings his own flair into the game. He could be an essential squad member for the Red Devils next season.
