Signing These Two Midfielders Would Instantly Change Arsenal Into Title Contenders

Two Players Who Arsenal Need To Sign To Compete For The Title

Arsenal have failed to take maximum points from their first two games as they fell to a demoralising loss to Stoke City away from home in the second game of the season. The Gunners made a couple of smart acquisitions in the summer transfer window but are now looking a bit short in a couple of positions in the squad.

This has kept manager Arsene Wenger active in the transfer market. But with less than 10 days left before the deadline day, Arsene will have to hurry up if he wants to add to his squad. Here are two such players Arsenal should look to sign before the window closes, if they are to compete for the Premier League title:

Julian Draxler (PSG)

The German winger is easily one of the most exciting players in world football and is one of the first choice attackers for the German national team. He quit the Bundesliga this January and joined French giants PSG, where he failed to lift the league title. However, he was in decent form and was expected to play a role this season as well.

But PSG decided to sign Neymar Jr, and have put Draxler up for sale, and he has no shortage of suitors. Liverpool and Manchester United are also interested and at just €40m, he is an absolute steal. He can replace Alexis Sanchez, who wants to quit the club, and will surely turn Arsenal into genuine title contenders this season.

Ross Barkley (Everton)

The English midfielder is unsettled at Goodison Park at the moment, having rejected the chance to sign a contract extension earlier this summer. Manager Ronald Koeman has decided to let him leave and has reduced the asking price from £50m to as low as £20m recently. Tottenham Hotspur were desperate for his signature at one stage but they decided that he is not worth the risk as yet and have dropped their interest.

However, Arsenal and Chelsea continue to be linked with Barkley, mainly due to their transfer requirements. The Gunners need a winger if Sanchez leaves and the 23-year old could be a decent acquisition. More importantly, he can also play in a midfield role, a position which Wenger still wants to strengthen.

With time running out, Arsenal should surely try to sign one of these stars before the deadline day if they are really serious about challenging for the league title.
