West Ham Player Ratings Vs Hull City
West Ham United’s misery continued as they succumbed to another defeat, as strugglers Hull City managed to defeat them 2-1 at the KCOM Arena.
Andy Carroll opened the scoring for the Hammers, but two second half goals from defenders Andrew Robertson and Andrea Ranocchia sealed three points for the Tigers.
The result saw West Ham drop to the 14th position in the Premier League table, with Leicester City winning their game on the day. Slaven Bilic’s side are without a win in six league games now and have lost 4 games on the trot. In what was another disappointing result for West Ham, here’s how the players fared on the day.
Ratings:
Darren Randolph – 6/10
The Irishman barely had a save to make, apart from the two goals that he conceded. Was strong in his box claiming crosses with comfort.
Sam Byram – 6/10
A decent shift from the right-back. There was one erroneous moment when he almost gifted Oumar Niasse a goal, but other than that, a fairly solid display.
James Collins – 6/10
It was Collins’ first start since December, but the defender did not display any signs of rust as he did the basics well at the back. Was a calming presence.
Jose Fonte – 5.5/10
A nervy start to the game saw him booked very early, but he grew into the game. However, he was caught ball watching for Robertson’s goal. Was not up to the mark.
Aaron Cresswell – 6.5/10
Played a brilliant cross for Carroll to open the scoring in the first-half. Was partially at fault for Hull’s opener, before being subbed off in the 67th minute.
Cheikhou Kouyate – 6/10
Ran around the middle of the park with energy and drive, but was largely wasteful when in possession.
Manuel Lanzini – 6/10
The Argentine could not make any serious impact on the game as he did not see much of the ball. When he did receive the ball, he wasn’t in the right position most of the times.
Sofiane Feghouli – 5.5/10
Did not track Robertson back in the lead up to Hull’s first goal and was wasteful on the attack. West Ham will miss Michail Antonio until he returns.
Andre Ayew – 6/10
Ran about the attacking third making himself available always, but not to great effect for most parts of the game. However, he did burst into life in the late stages, but couldn’t save his team from the defeat.
Robert Snodgrass – 5.5/10
Was probably trying too hard to impress against his former club and as a result, he struggled. Apart from some good crosses into the box, didn’t do anything noteworthy.
Andy Carroll – 7/10
Scored his 50th Premier League goal and took it with aplomb, chesting down the cross before finding the net with his left foot.
Substitutes
Edimilson Fernandes – 5.5/10
Replaced Snodgrass in the 65th minute and slotted in the midfield. Did not do much to have an impact on the game.
Arthur Masuaku – 6/10
Came on to replace Cresswell in the 67th minute. Solid after coming on.
Jonathan Calleri – NA
Replaced Kouyate in the 90th minute. Did not have much to do.
