Solid Peacock-Farrell, Poor Alioski – The best & the worst rated Leeds stars in the 1-0 win vs Sheffield United

Leeds United Player Ratings vs Sheffield United – Here’s how the Peacocks fared

Leeds United continued their winning run post the November international break when they got the better of Sheffield United at Bramall Lane in a Saturday lunchtime kick-off in the Championship. Pablo Hernandez scored a late goal eight minutes from time to seal the deal for Marcelo Bielsa’s men, who created just enough chances to deserve these three points.

This win keeps the Peacocks in second place, just one point behind Norwich City who are on 40 points. The defeat keeps Sheffield United in 6th place, with Nottingham Forest above them in 5th place.

Leeds United Player Ratings

Bailey Peacock-Farrell (7.5)

Made a couple of great saves to deny David McGoldrick. Came out and flapped at many crosses. His confidence is building after the penalty save against Reading.

Kalvin Phillips (7)

Had to move to central defence when Liam Cooper went off. The Englishman was doing his usual apart from a few strayed passes.

Pontus Jansson of Leeds United.
Pontus Jansson

Pontus Jansson (7)

A much-needed return to the team, more so after Cooper’s injury. The Swede led the back-line ably and helped Aapo Halme in covering the right spaces.

Liam Cooper (N/A)

He hobbled in the 21st minute of the game with the help of two medical assistants. Seems like a serious injury that.

Stuart Dallas (6)

Other than a cross or two into the box, Dallas wasn’t very effective in the opposition half. Defensively, he was sound enough.

Barry Douglas (6)

Uncharacteristically, his set-piece delivery and crossing weren’t really finding the right men. Defended the spaces well though.

Mateusz Klich

Adam Forshaw (6)

Did his best in the defensive midfield role, covering the right spaces and trying to move the team forward by taking passes from the defenders. However, the latter didn’t happen enough.

Mateusz Klich (7)

Was always looking to create a chance to shoot or set up other forward runners. His energy is palpable in central midfield.

Pablo Hernandez (6.5)

Despite scoring the winner, the Spaniard was nowhere near his best. Passes went strayed and the guile was missing.

Kemar Roofe (5.5)

Worked hard for the team without much reward. Had one headed chance in the second half and that’s it.

Ezgjan Alioski

Ezgjan Alioski (4)

Continues to disappoint. This should be his last chance, especially after seeing Jack Clarke provide the assist.

Substitutes

Aapo Halme (Subbed on after 21 mins) (6)

Few sloppy passes to start his day but then grew into the game and under the guidance of Jansson. Did well to thwart the Sheffield United danger.

Jack Clarke (Subbed on at H/T) (6)

It was really clicking for Clarke until he forced Dean Henderson into a mistake to set up the winning goal for Hernandez.

Jamie Shackleton (Subbed on after 90 mins) (N/A)

Had no time to make an impact.
