Spectacular Stones – The Best And The Worst Rated Manchester City Players vs Feyenoord

Manchester City kicked off their UEFA Champions League campaign in style, thrashing Dutch side Feyenoord 4-0 away at the Stadion Feijenoord.

It took only two minutes for Pep Guardiola’s side to get off the mark, as John Stones headed in David Silva’s cross to hand them the lead. Soon after, they were two goals ahead, as Sergio Aguero continued his strong start to the new season, sidefooting Kyle Walker’s cutback into the net.

Gabriel Jesus added to the onslaught, making it 3-0 in the 25th minute, converting a rebound after Benjamin Mendy’s shot was saved. Stones doubled his tally on the night a little after the hour mark, heading in a brilliant cross from Kevin De Bruyne to add to Feyenoord’s woes.

Here’s how the City stars fared on the night;

Manchester City Player Ratings

Ederson – 6/10

Spectator in the goal, with Feyenoord never threatening in attack. Involved in the build up from the back.

Kyle Walker – 7/10

Great work down the right-side and an equally good pass for Aguero’s goal. A steady display from the England international.

John Stones – 9/10

Rose highest to head home in the second minute. Produced a great block to deny Michiel Kramer in the first half. Got himself another goal in the second period. One of his best games in the Sky Blue colours of City.

Nicolas Otamendi – 7/10

Had little threat to contend with at the back, which he dealt with comfortably. Solid when called upon.

Benjamin Mendy – 7/10

His powerful shot was parried into Jesus’ path for the third. A serious threat down the left-side with his pace and brilliant crossing.

Fernandinho – 7/10

Solid, if not spectacular in the middle of the park. Held the fort well, allowing his attack-minded teammates to flourish.

Kevin De Bruyne – 8/10

Booked in the 15th minute. Drove City forward each time he got on the ball and was a menace. Brilliant cross to set Stones up for the fourth.

Bernardo Silva – 7.5/10

Buzzed down the field, creating opportunities for his teammates. Looks a real quality player for the Citizens.

David Silva – 8/10

Lovely cross for the opener. Helped City control the game with his usual intelligent playmaking abilities.

Gabriel Jesus – 7.5/10

Alert to score from the rebound – fourth City player to score on his Champions League debut. His link-up play was exciting to watch.

Sergio Aguero – 7.5/10

Got past his marker with ease to score the second goal for City. Forced a couple of saves soon after. Taken off early in the second half.

Substitutes

Raheem Sterling – 6/10

Replaced Aguero in the 59th minute, at a time when City were taking the foot off the pedal.

Fabian Delph – 6/10

Came on for David Silva with just a little over 20 minutes left to play. Rusty as expected.

Leroy Sane – 6/10

On for Fernandinho in the 72nd minute. Bright cameo.
