Tottenham signing this 17-goal midfield powerhouse would help replace Eriksen and also transform their attack

Why Tottenham should sign Donny van de Beek

Tottenham Hotspur need not be reminded of how much they usually depend on Christian Eriksen. And yet, in almost every game that he plays, the midfielder’s inclusion completely changes the tempo.

His pressing from the front, ability to retain possession and whip in low crosses are unrivalled. However, this isn’t a good sign as Eriksen has been linked with an exit from the club with the European transfer window still open.

He’ll now be able to talk to clubs in January and Spurs’ top-four hopes will depend on Eriksen’s presence.

One player who would be a fantastic replacement for the former Ajax player is another Ajax star, who was fantastic last season in Donny van de Beek. The Dutchman has been linked with a move to Spurs in the summer and would be quite a good replacement.

Van de Beek scored some very important goals in the Champions League with one of them coming against Spurs. Van de Beek was regularly used in an attacking midfield position and is at an age where he has a lot of time to develop himself.

Last season, he got 17 goals and 13 assists in all competitions and has got off to a flying start this season as well.

The Dutchman is a tireless worker, who is constantly harrying the opposition midfielders and will lead the press, which is very important in Mauricio Pochettino’s system. Eriksen is usually the one who leads it and Von de Beek would make a seamless transition.

Van de Beek never takes too many touches on the ball as he’s always looking to play quick one-twos with the players around him. He’s very capable with both feet and as stated above can play a final ball and has an eye for goal.
