Would Son Heung-min Be A Good Addition For Liverpool?

Jurgen Klopp has worked wonders with a squad which is easily the weakest of teams in the top-6 in the points table this season. The manager has been looking at improving the squad at the end of the season and has been linked to some exciting names recently. But former Red and current TV pundit had one interesting name that Klopp should target this summer. Speaking to the Daily Mail. Jamie Redknapp felt that Liverpool should make a move for Tottenham Hotspur star Heung-Min Son at the end of the season.

The South Korean star has been at Tottenham since the start of the previous season, after his move for Leverkusen. But he is yet to cement a place in the first team under Mauricio Pochettino and has only just started to gain the manager’s trust. In 55 games at the Lane, Son has 15 goals to his name but is far from turning into the first choice under the manager next season as well. Harry Kane should remain the first-choice striker for the Spurs while Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen are not going anywhere next season. With Son’s role being a limited one at Tottenham, how good a fit is he, at Anfield?

Having made more than 50 appearances for his national side, Son is experienced and is a utility player who can play in any of the midfield roles or also as a lone striker. He is as versatile as it gets and is a player who can solve a couple of problems for Liverpool. Known for his energy and work rate throughout the game, Son is not a strong player who will win balls in the air or score tons of headed goals. But he is a hard worker who will be a constant thorn in the flesh for defenders, something that should attract Jurgen Klopp.

He may not be defensively as good as the Reds want him to be but Son can add width to the Liverpool, something they have been missing, even with Mane in the side. Son can play on either of the flanks and can also replace Firmino as a striker. He will not be the target man who adds another dimension to the Liverpool attack but if Jurgen Klopp can lure Son out of White Hart Lane this summer, he may not have to spend on an attacking player, unless he sells someone at the end of the season.

Redknapp seems to believe that Son’s ability to score goals when nothing is happening, is what Liverpool are missing this season, but if that is the case, Klopp should rather spend on a target man who can turn the tables in such games. Son is a player who will fit into the current squad and can come off the bench or cover for injuries to the first team like he is at the Lane this season. He is a decent option, but not quite a necessity at Anfield this summer.

Do you think Liverpool should move for the Spurs star this summer?
