“St Totteringham’s day loading”, “It’s happening again”: Some Arsenal fans take a dig at rivals after 2-0 win vs Newcastle + Match report

Arsenal vs Newcastle United Report – Arsenal Match Report

Arsenal continued their good home form by comfortably beating Newcastle United 2-0 to jump to third place in the league table. Aaron Ramsey and Alexandre Lacazette were the scorers in either half to seal a good night’s work for the Gunners.

Around the 13th minute, a Mesut Ozil corner was flicked towards the far post where Ramsey was present to tuck the ball in. But the referee pulled the play back because Sokratis had fouled Florian Lejeune. Hence, Arsenal couldn’t take the lead then.

However, 17 minutes later, the Welshman wasn’t to be denied. Lacazette somehow found a way to get the ball towards him and the first time strike towards the bottom corner was close to unstoppable.

Just at the stroke of half-time, Lacazette must have thought he scored following a flowing Arsenal move. But Matt Ritchie rightly placed himself on the line to block that effort.

The Frenchman struck the net in the second half but was denied by the referee as he seemed to have fouled the Newcastle keeper.

The Gunners eventually put the game to bed seven minutes from time, after some delightful interplay between Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Lacazette ended with the ball at the path of the latter to dink it past the Newcastle keeper.

All in all, a very comfortable night’s work for Arsenal, who are now third in the table and above Tottenham.
