Manchester City opinion: Stats analysis of POTY contender Raheem Sterling

If we take a look at Raheem Sterling’s performance curve in the last three years, it has been on the up on a consistent basis. The Englishman is having another terrific season for Manchester City, and the improvement in the final product is refreshing to see.

Back in his Liverpool days, it was always seen that Sterling had the potential to become a great player, provided he improvesd on the goals and assists count.

He has done that emphatically under Pep Guardiola, especially this season. The 24-year-old is having a phenomenal year not just in terms of impacting games, but also putting the finishing touch when required.

His dribble rate of 3.3 epitomises his willingness to take on defenders and go past them at ease. Andy Robertson is the only left-back who hasn’t been dribbled past by the Englishman. Says a lot that about the player and his consistency!

In the past, we have seen Sterling missing a lot of big chances. He has improved on that as well, having only fluffed his lines five times this season. Compared to the previous campaign where he missed 12 big chances, it is a significant upgrade.
