Stoke have completed a great deal by signing this Man City teen starlet and it is sure to sort out their future

Why Stoke City have made a great deal by signing Ryan Corrigan

Like many other Manchester City starlet, including Jadon Sancho, Brahim Diaz and Rabbi Matondo, it looks like another highly-promising star has left the club. Stoke City have revealed that Ryan Corrigan has joined them from the Cityzens with the deal getting through just under the wire on deadline day.

The 18-year-old is a highly-rated left-back and like many before him, wanted a better pathway to first-team football. This combined with other issues has seen Corrigan join Stoke City on a permanent deal, which makes him the third promising youngster to leave the Manchester side. While that is a major problem that Manchester City need to figure out how to solve, for Stoke City on the other hand, it represents a major coup.

Stoke have got a rather experienced youngster, with Corrigan having made 30 appearances for Manchester City’s U18 squad over the last few years. Also, his experience at the U16 level and even his time at Everton have improved his ability over the years. The 18-year-old started his career at Goodison Park but was lured away by Manchester City a.little over four years ago.

However, like many before him and probably many after him, the teen star was looking for a much easier way into the first-team and thus opted for a way out. The Irishman had flourished at youth level for City, showing his defensive and offensive abilities over the years.

For Stoke City, it does represent a massive coup and given the state of their current side, it’s a massive boost to get a highly-rated young star. Both Moritz Bauer and Tom Edwards have struggled to make an impact at right-back this season, while left-back Josh Tymon is only 19 years old and has struggled as well with the pressure.

Ryan Corrigan, on the other hand, has shown that he can thrive under pressure, which is exactly what Stoke City need at the moment.

The Potters are trying to get back into the Premier League and while that will be easier said than done, adding highly rated young starlets is the way forward at the moment.
