Strongest Arsenal Lineup With Elneny In The Team: Ramsey Or Cazorla To Partner Him?

Arsenal made another rather obscure signing in the winter transfer window, this time it was the Egyptian midfielder Mohamed Elneny. The 23-year-old completed his move from Basel and seems set to feature in the Gunners team for their upcoming matches.

The deal came out of the blue but it was something that Arsenal and Wenger had to complete due to a rising number of injuries, especially in the midfield. Elneny has won plaudits for his performances since moving to Europe and would certainly expect to do well at Arsenal.

Elneny plays as a defensive midfielder but he isn’t the physical tank that people might expect him to be, rather he is more of a reader of the game. Someone who knows when to go for the ball and when to hold his position for the team, plus he has a great engine and can run for miles, again something that Arsene Wenger and Arsenal would like.

The midfielder now also has added goals to his repertoire and has bagged five this season for Basel. Elneny would certainly give Coquelin a fight for a place in the starting XI and he could well usurp the young Frenchman in the Arsenal midfield. With the signing, we look at the strongest Arsenal lineup in case Elneny does start.

Petr Cech

Can there be any other goalkeeper starting for Arsenal apart from Cech?

Hector Bellerin

Bellerin is the fastest right-back in England probably and easily keeps his place in the team.

Laurent Koscielny

The leader of the defence, Koscielny easily makes it into the team and can’t be replaced by any other defender in the league probably.

Per Mertesacker

Paulista can’t take the place of the experienced German in the heart of the defence alongside Koscielny.

Nacho Monreal

The left-back seems to be doing pretty well and should keep his place in the team.

Mohamed Elneny

The midfielder should slot straight into the team and with his energy and running, should provide Arsenal with some great service as a defensive midfielder.

Aaron Ramsey

Aaron Ramsey

Aaron Ramsey seems to be a better player in the midfield, with his runs and link up play. He should get a starting place instead of Santi Cazorla. Though his passing range isn’t as great as the Spaniard’s, he offers more in defence and also in attack with his constant box-to-box runs.

Alexis Sanchez

Alexis Sanchez might not be playing to the levels he was playing last season but certainly stays in the first team. His quality cannot be replaced easily at Arsenal.

Mesut Ozil

The German has been one of the players of the season this year and easily stays in this Arsenal XI.

Theo Walcott

Walcott just about keeps his place in the team as he can play up top and has a lot of pace to trouble most defences in England.

Olivier Giroud

The Frenchman might get a lot of slack from the Arsenal fans but he does get those crucial goals and should continue his role as the central striker.
