Strongest Arsenal XI To Face Burnley: Paulista To Pair Up With Mertesacker In Defence

published :

Arsenal continue their pursuit of Chelsea at the top of the League table as they face Burnley away from home this weekend. Arsenal, coming from an impressive rout of Liverpool will be looking to win their 8th consecutive win in all competitions against a side which is struggling to stay afloat in a competitive league. Burnley have won just one game in their last 10 and the points should be in the bag for Arsenal as they have not lost to a team in the bottom half this season.

Per Mertesacker Mesut Ozil Arsenal

Arsenal would be wary of Burnley however as they did defeat the Champions Manchester City at Turf Moor only a month back, we predict the starting line-up for the Gunners as they look to continue their impressive run.

David Ospina

Ospina has made the Arsenal goalkeeping spot his own and finally seems to be playing at the level he showed in the World Cup.

Nacho Monreal

Monreal has been brilliant for the Gunners this season and whether he plays as left back or right back, the Spaniard seems to be an integral part of the team.

Gabriel Paulista

The Brazilian hasn’t looked out of place in a new league after his move from Spain and has given Arsenal the cover they so badly needed in defence, his stellar performances should keep him in the starting line-up though.

Per Mertesacker

Mertesacker might not be the fastest player in the league but his intelligence and reading of the game should give him another start for Arsenal.

Hector Bellerin

Bellerin scored a blinder against Liverpool last time around and the youngster should continue playing in the team against Burnley as well.

Santi Cazorla

The maestro in midfield, with Arteta out for a long time there might have been doubts about who could fill in his role but Cazorla playing in a deeper role has been brilliant and should be starting for Arsenal.

Francis Coqeulin

The midfield destroyer, no one would have expected a young, unknown player to become so important for Arsenal but he looks like the finished article already for the Gunners and should not be dropped from the line-up.

Mesut Ozil

Ozil scored a great free kick against Liverpool and he will be hoping that he also continues his form against a hapless Burnley side.

Aaron Ramsey

The return of Ramsey could not have been better timed and with Wilshere also coming back, it would be a good time to see how well Ramsey can play.

Alexis Sanchez

The star of the show and a runner for the player of the season, Sanchez was brilliant against Liverpool and Burnley should be wary about facing the speed and ability of the Chilean who will be looking to get his name on the score sheet.

Olivier Giroud

Olivier Giroud has been on fire recently and has been one of the reasons for the massive push that Arsenal have got in the second half of the season. It would be a major surprise if he did not start this game as his record against lower level opposition is excellent.
