Liverpool Predicted Lineup vs Stoke City

Liverpool start their Premier League campaign against the team that gave them one of their worst defeats ever. Stoke City hammered 6 past Liverpool in the last game of the previous season and that is something that would be playing on the minds of Rodgers and company. Liverpool are a completely new look side with big money signings like Benteke and Firmino coming into the club. The first game sets a great precedent of what to expect and we predict the starting lineup for the Reds as they try to exorcise the demons of Stoke.

Simon Mignolet

There is no doubt that Simon will be the one playing in goal for Liverpool, at least from the first game. He was Liverpool’s player of the season and for good measure.

Nathaniel Clyne

The new signing from Southampton, haven’t we heard that before? Should start for the Reds and is an upgrade on the outgoing Glen Johnson, who surprising has joined Stoke and could face Liverpool.

Martin Skrtel

The Slovakian central defender should play in the heart of defence as he was Liverpool’s best defender last season.

Dejan Lovren

The Croatian might be a surprise inclusion into the team and has featured in almost every preseason game. Liverpool fans will be expecting better things from Lovren in his second season at the club.

Joe Gomez

Another new signing who has been shining bright, Gomez might be a central defender, but he has done exceptionally well in the preseason games as a left-back and should keep his place in the team.

James Milner

Out with Steven Gerrard and who better to replace the experience of Mr. Liverpool than James Milner? The former Manchester City was named Liverpool’s vice-captain and should partner the captain in the centre of midfield.

Jordan Henderson

Henderson has to step up this season, he is Liverpool’s captain and has to lead from the front. This could be a really special season for the English midfielder.

Adam Lallana

While Liverpool have brought in Firmino, it could be Lallana starting the first game of the season simply for the fact that it is an away game and he could provide the team more balance than playing Firmino from the start.

Philippe Coutinho

The only Liverpool player to be potent in the attack last season, Coutinho has to do a lot of attacking this season, especially since Raheem Sterling left for Bluer pastures.

Jordon Ibe

Ibe was another player who was extremely impressive in preseason, Ibe will be hoping to take up Sterling’s mantle of being Liverpool’s next great talent and leading the club in the attack.

Christian Benteke

With Sturridge still out, the onus on goal scoring would fall on the big shoulders of Benteke and he could be the missing link for Liverpool, who do need a star striker to bang in the goals.
