After a late draw with Cardiff City on the weekend, Manchester United would be desperate to get back into winning ways again as they travel to Germany to face Bayer Leverkusen in a mid week champions league game. Red Devils can qualify for knockout stages of the Champions League on Wednesday if they secure three points against the German side.
Predicted Lineup
Strongest Manchester United Lineup
De Gea
Smalling Vidic Ferdinand Evra
Cleverley Kagawa
Valencia Welbeck
Rooney
Van Persie
Defense
Moyes’ side receives a massive boost as their captain Nemanja Vidic, who missed the draw with Cardiff City is back and expected to start the game. With Jones and Rafeal still not recovered fully from their injuries, Smalling will mostly start in the right back position.
Central Midfield
With Fellaini and Cleverley flopping in recent games, best option available for Moyes is to play Kagawa as a central midfielder. He had some experience playing as CM during his Dortmund days. Even though this might weaken up the defense a bit, but putting the Japanse star in the middle will surely increase team’s much needed playmaking abilities on the whole.
Wings
Valencia earns his place in the starting 11 with his good recent form. Here is an another change we suggest which may surprise a few. Play Welbeck in the left. Welbeck can play as an inverted winger, cutting in from wide areas and having a go at the goal. If this experiment fails, Moyes can replace Welbeck with Giggs and swap the Welshman’s position with Kagawa’s.
Attack
Attack looks as solid as ever with two deadly forwards playing their trade in United colors. Robin van Perise is back, which adds a direct threat to Leverkusen defense. Rooney to play just behind RVP as a no 10.
