Strongest Possible Manchester United Line Up To Face West Ham – Fosu-Mensah Out, Rooney And Valencia In

Manchester United will look to kick start the season with a win over Spurs

After losing 3-0 at White Hart Lane, United will be traveling to London again as they will be facing West Ham United for the last time this season. Van Gaal will be under severe pressure as they have only the FA cup left as a silverware to win.

West Ham, on the other hand, gave an emphatic performance at Boleyn Ground in their last premier league fixture in which Andy Caroll gave a heroic performance and scored a hat trick for the hosts.

This will be the second leg of the FA cup quarter final as both the sides matched their performance in the first leg. Dimitri Payet gave his side the lead by scoring from an emphatic free-kick and then Martial gave his side a breather by drawing things down.

Manchester United are having some doubts regarding Fosu-Mensah and that could be a major blow because the kid was phenomenal against Spurs and just after his departure, United lost its shape. West Ham United will be without their striker Diafra Sakho.

Here is the predicted lineup for Manchester United that could face West Ham United-

Goalkeeper: David De Gea-

Absolutely no doubt about that. He has been an unstoppable machine this year for the club and deserves the place in the first team. Will have to work hard to stop the powerful shots of Andy Caroll, Lanzini and Payet who are famous for their long-range efforts.

Defence: Valencia, Smalling, Blind, Young-

Valencia might return to the right back position as the young Dutch Fosu-Mensah is still a doubt. Darmian is also available for the team but looking at his current form Van Gaal should choose Valencia instead. Smalling and Blind might retain their position after a slumping defeat at Lane. Blind might lose the aerial and physical battle against Caroll so, Van Gaal must assign Smalling to charge at the 27-year-old English man. Rojo’s continues poor form is frustrating the crowd as well as the manager so, Young might take his place and return to his previous position.

Midfielders: Lingard, Herrera, Schneiderlin, Rooney, Mata-

Wayne Rooney

This, in my opinion, will the best possible midfield for the Dutch manager. Lingard and Mata can be deployed on the flanks where they can combine with the full backs for providing some deadly crosses. Carrick must be dropped and Herrera must play as the central midfielder, Schneiderlin as a holding midfielder and Wayne Rooney might return to the squad after a long time. Rooney might play at his natural number 10 position assisting the attacks of Manchester United.

Striker: Anthony Martial-

After a long-long time, he might return to his native position and play as a center forward for the team. Rashford may be rested as the 18-year-old was taken off due to his poor performance against Spurs. Martial in support with Rooney and Mata can be a vicious option for the team.
