Strongest Possible Manchester United Lineup vs Wolfsburg: Young and Memphis to Start

Manchester United travel to Germany to face Wolfsburg in the UEFA Champions League group stage match. The Red Devils need to beat the German side to confirm their qualification to the round of 16. A draw will be enough for them if CSKA Moscow beat PSV Eindhoven in an another Group B match. With the entire football fraternity criticizing United’s style of play, Manchester United will be hoping for a better luck in front of goal in the reverse fixture and snatch the 3 points which is at stake.

Manchester United will be without Luke Shaw, Marcos Rojo, Phil Jones, Morgan Schneiderlin, Wayne Rooney and Antonio Valencia due to respective injuries. This is how the Red Devils will line up for the clash:

Spanish custodian David de Gea will be the goalkeeper for United ahead of Argentine Sergio Romero. In the defence, Manchester United’s best player of the season so far Chris Smalling will be teaming up with Dutchman Daley Blind. Both Blind and Smalling have been a force to reckon with and will hope to continue to be the same against Wolfsburg. Matteo Darmian will be the right-back while Ashley Young will take care of the left.

In the midfield, Bastian Schweinsteiger is set to start alongside Michael Carrick as the holding midfielder after Schneiderlin is out of tomorrow’s clash. Spanish midfielder Juan Mata will be the number 10 with Jesse Lingard and Memphis Depay playing in the wings. It would be interesting if Van Gaal starts Maruone Fellaini ahead of Memphis Depay in the midfield. In that case, Fellaini will play as the number 10 while Mata will move to the wings.Frenchman Anthony Martial will be the lone striker and will look to find form in the crucial clash in the absence of Wayne Rooney.
