Struggling For Form – These Tottenham Players Need To Strive Harder

After back to back losses in the Premier League and the Europa League, Mauricio Pochettino’s Tottenham Hotspur have lost some ground in their bid to win the league this season. The Argentine manager, who has been working wonders at White Hart Lane, brought in a few players in the summer transfer window before the start of the season, but he will not really be happy with the way all his players have settled into the team. There are a number of underperformers in the squad at the moment and the manager will want to get rid of such players at the end of the season.

Moussa Sissoko:

A deadline day signing for Pochettino in the summer, Sissoko joined the Lane at the back of an impressive season with Newcastle and an impressive EURO16 stint with the French National Team. The 27-year old ticks most boxes for Pochettino’s style of play and was expected to help them compete with the best this season but Sissoko has found it so hard to adjust to the challenges at the club, so much so that he is already been linked with an exit at the end of the season. The versatile Frenchman has previous experience in the Premier League and has no reason to be as unsuccessful as he has been this season and he will remain a flop even if he manages to turn things around for the rest of the season. At 27, Pochettino would have expected him to the be one of the senior men to drive the team to glory but at the moment, Sissoko is nothing more than a fringe player and stands as one of the most underperforming players at the White Hart Lane this season.

Sissoko has struggled to perform this season.

Ben Davies:

The Welsh fullback has been at White Hart Lane for more than a couple of years now but he is yet to cement his place in the starting XI for the Spurs. Capable of playing at the center of the defence as well, Davies was expected to be the next star at the back for Spurs but he has not been able to keep up the good work that earned him a place in the capital. His most recent outing, which was against Gent, showed a number of weaknesses that he is carrying and Pochettino will know that he is not a player who can win them the title. Danny Rose and Kyle Walker remain as first choices for the club this season but Pochettino has had to use Davies constantly, due to injuries to star players. This has seen Davies come under more scrutiny and having shown no signs of improvement, he will stand as one of the most underperforming players at the Lane this campaign.

Davies has not matched his expectation levels.
