Norwich City player ratings vs Aston Villa: Here’s how the Canaries fared

Norwich City handed Dean Smith his first loss as Aston Villa manager after a Jordan Rhodes double saw out a 2-1 win for the Canaries. James Chester opened the scoring for the Villans but two superb goals from Jordan Rhodes sealed the win for Daniel Farke’s men.

The Canaries now move up to 4th place on the table and are very much in contention as one of the early pacesetters.

Tim Krul (7/10)

Made a couple of good saves in the second half but was unable to do anything about the first goal.

Maximilan Aarons (6/10)

Raided well down the flank and defended tirelessly, but he was unable to provide much going forward.

Christoph Zimmermann (7/10)

Was defensively very good on the night but had his bad moments as well, picking up a yellow card in the process.

Barely put a foot wrong all night and made a number of vital tackles inside the box.

Lewis was often kept at bay in the final third but he did his defensive duties and cut out a number of counter-attacks.

Gave away the ball too casually on a number of occasions and slowed down the attack on the counter.

Did his defensive bit of the game but was not good with his distribution in the middle of the park.

Emiliano Buendia (7/10)

The Argentinian was a constant threat down the right flank and picked up the assist for Rhodes’ first goal.

Marco Stiepermann (8/10)

The German international picked up his first assist of the season and put in an impressive performance on the night.

Todd Cantwell (7/10)

The youngster showed glimpses of quality but will need time to settle into the squad.

Jordan Rhodes (9/10)

Rhodes scored two superb goals to hand the Canaries all three points on the night. He needs to maintain consistency in his form though.
