Defender Marcos Rojo’s situation at Manchester United had become quite volatile very quickly, towards the end of the transfer window. The 25-year-old Argentine reported late from international duty and was not part of any of the Red Devils’ games at the start of the season. Surely it wouldn’t take too long to spark speculations of an exit from Old Trafford.
Also, the player himself admitted recently on the radio that he received quite a few offers before the transfer deadline from various clubs.
Despite that, Rojo added that he rejected them in favour of staying at Manchester, with SportWitness revealing that Ligue 1 sides Marseille and Monaco and also La Liga giants Valencia wanted to sign the former Sporting man. A source close to the player confirmed that the trio of clubs expressed their interest towards the end of the current window, though the defender clearly dismissed their offers.
Further, there were rumours about a reported spat between the player and manager Louis van Gaal, about which the source added, “There is no problem with the manager. Marcos wants to recover his position in the first eleven and nothing else. Louis Van Gaal trusts Marcos and that’s all that matters. He was delayed during preparation because he was with the national. There was a problem with the passport that delayed his return, but it wasn’t his fault and everything was clarified.”
