Celtic FC opinion: The Hoops should sign Luca Connell
With a handful of appearances under his belt, Connell has managed to attract interest from some of the biggest clubs in England & Scotland after impressing in his breakout campaign which earned him a call up to the Ireland squad two weeks ago.
According to the report, Rangers were very keen on a deal for Connell, but Celtic seem to have got an edge.
The report states that Wolves, Norwich and Sheffield United have also shown a clear interest in taking the Bolton youngster this summer and paying training compensation.
That suggests that Connell is a highly-rated midfield player and Celtic would be getting an extremely talented young player.
But the Scottish champions can sign the 18-year-old for a much lower cross-border tribunal fee as he would move away from England.
Connell was called up to the Ireland squad two weeks ago and Neil Lennon will believe that he can convince the youngster to continue his development at Park Head, Lennon being his contemporary.
Connell has been very impressive on international duty and it looks increasingly likely that he may leave Bolton Wanderers this summer and it is only a matter of when and to whom.
The young man will need to make certain that he gets playing time. This shouldn’t be too big a problem as Celtic has a history of bringing up young players.
He’ll also be fighting the likes of Scott Brown for a place in the team. Brown isn’t getting any younger and could serve as a mentor for the young Irishman.
Celtic had yet another successful campaign, doing the domestic treble once again despite losing manager Brendan Rodgers towards the end of the season.
Neil Lennon was appointed as the caretaker manager and went on a decent run, winning the Scottish Cup and making certain that the league was back at Park Head.

Rivals Rangers will be looking to strengthen in the summer transfer window and it’s important that Celtic continue to blood in fresh faces and secure their long term future simultaneously.
Connell for so many reasons, as mentioned earlier, would be a great fit at Park Head. He could learn from the winning mentality installed within the group and Celtic will be getting a player who could go on to become a star for them.
